Options For Gaining Your Business Bachelor Degree Online

Options For Gaining Your Business Bachelor Degree Online

Career advancement is not a complicated thing. While there may be some exceptions, the most qualified people generally go farther in their career. Consider specifically the business world. College graduates who own the top education credentials have much more than a leg up on the competition when it comes to job placement. If you did not go to a traditional four-year university right from high school, do not fret. There is still an opportunity to succeed in the business. Getting a business bachelor degree online is essentially advancing your career in an easy way. If you would like to have your foot in the door and a fighting chance at reaching your ultimate career goals, then having a college degree is absolutely necessary. With online degree programs that are designed for the busy working professional, you can reach your goals without having to put off everything that is important to you.

Many who have been through an online degree program will agree that the best quality of these programs is the fact that they enable you to earn some credentials without having to put life on hold. Going back to college generally requires a huge financial commitment and an even greater sacrifice of your time. Factor into the equation that you must go through the lengthy application process and possibly have to relocate, most business professionals would call this an absolute impossibility. By choosing to gain your degree online, you can combine all of the positives of a college degree, while avoiding the negative financial crunch and time constraints involved in attending a traditional university.

Conveniently, there are many programs out there that offer something a little bit different to the business professional. These programs have been marketed heavily to the public and because of that, they have many new students. At many of the country’s newest and largest online universities, there are business bachelor degrees available online and you are required to attend virtual classes four times a week. You can obviously complete these classes whenever you please. Another thing that many people do not know about online universities is that they offer scholarships for people who qualify and other forms of financial aid for those who are in financial need. This makes earning a business bachelor degree online easier than it ever has been and opens the door to many candidates.

Lots of people have gone through the programs and different online universities because they offer some specialization. People with general business degrees are still valuable, but they lack the worth that they used to have. Today’s employers are looking for people who have an extensive knowledge in a certain subject. They want people that could be described as experts. Online universities have noticed this trend, as well. As such, they offer degrees in things such as accounting, marketing, personnel management, and many other fields. Online universities generally offer any business degree that could be gained at a traditional, four year university plus a few that you might not see there.

Online degree programs are perfect for the working individual. They offer the comfort and flexibility to enable a working person to gain an education while keeping a job. In addition, they have changed enough with the times to prepare their graduates for the real working world. With a degree from one of these online universities in a specialized program of your choice, the opportunities will begin to open up. The costs of gaining a business bachelor degree online are nowhere near as high as the benefits that the graduates receive upon exiting the program.

Is A Hospitality Career For You?

Is A Hospitality Career For You?

Although striving for hospitality career could be quite tempting, especially with the very lucrative pay waiting for you and benefits in store, this is still not a venture for the weak hearted. Getting into this kind of field is not all about perks, benefits and big tips. A big ordeal of work is also included in the package.

So, before you pass that resume or application to undergo training, try to think carefully first if this kind of profession is really for you. Here are some points to ponder on to help you see the big picture more clearly.

Humility: Do You Have It?

One very important thing you should remember with this type of work is that it is service oriented. You are the provider of the service. Thus, you should have humility towards the person you are serving. If you are the type of person that cannot lower your pride, then this would be a pretty tough ordeal for you. However, if you are the type who loves to serve and accommodate the needs of other people, this would be pretty easy on your part.

A Perpetual Smile

Being in this kind of profession would mean having a perpetual smile on your face throughout your working hours. You could never grunt or complain about work, especially in front of your guests. No matter how bad your day has been, you should be prepared to serve people with a smile.

Smiling is one way of being hospitable. It is also one good way to make people feel that they are welcome in a new place. So, if you think you can’t keep that smile plastered on your face even if you’re not in the mood, then this kind of job is not ideally for you.

Ready To Work The Graveyard Shift?

Jobs in this field usually involve working in hotels, cafes, casinos and restaurants. All of which are establishments that are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In most cases, you are not the one who will be setting your schedule but your manager.

Thus, you should be ready to work the graveyard shift. Schedules of working duty also vary. This is why you should also be prepared to adjust to whatever schedule was given to you. This doesn’t mean that you only adjust your daily schedule of activities. You should also be ready to adjust physically and mentally.

Goodbye Holidays!

Holidays are the busiest time of the year for this industry. Hence, you should be prepared to give up your own holiday celebrations while you serve other people so that they can have their holiday vacation of a lifetime. This part of the job does not only affect you, but even also your family. Thus, they should also be prepared and be able to understand the nature of your job. In most cases, you would have to celebrate your holidays the next day after the real date.

Home Away From Home

Travelling is a part for most positions in this career path. If you’ll be working in a cruise or airline setting, then you should be prepared to have your home away from home, which would be your ship or airplane. There are also tour guide positions in which you would sometimes be on tour for a number of days. You get to go home for about a day or so and you’ll be off on another tour once more.

So, do you think you can handle all these? If yes, then good luck with your hospitality career venture!

The Disadvantages of a Career in Financing

The Disadvantages of a Career in Financing

When we were young, we already had an idea of what we want to be when we go grow up. Sometimes, these changes as the years go by. While there are advantages in whatever profession we choose, we should also look at the disadvantages if this for instance will be a career in financing.

What is wrong with financing? If you think about it, nothing given that it is an honest job with a considerable rewards. But not everyone will be able to stay here for the long term which is why you have to weigh the pros and cons.

First, can you see yourself doing mathematical computations and giving advice to someone who is probably earning more than you? The truth is, some people can while others can’t.

The best test of all will be how well you excel in subjects like calculus and economics in school. You have to be able to understand these concepts and then use these tools to your advantage. Then again, there are people who may be good in one subject or both while there are those who will probably excel in other subjects.

Learning concepts is one thing but doing this job every single day is another. A good idea will be to talk to professionals who are already in the financial industry and see how it is working there. Make up a list of questions and ask for clarifications if there is something that you do not understand.

It will also be a good idea to read up on the finance industry so you know what you are getting yourself into 4 years from now once you graduate from college.

If you still choose to have a career in financing, here are some of the disadvantages you will hear or experience. You shouldn’t be discouraged about them but keep them in mind as you are starting your career in finance.

Professionals who have obtained their CPA’s and start work as accountants do not earn that much compared to those who are involved in investment banking and consulting. Also, they handle multiple projects at certain times especially during the end of the financial year or when it is time to file income tax that means overtime just to get the job done.

There is also the pressure given that you are in a fast paced game and you are dealing with other people’s money. If you screw up, this could mean financial ruin for them and you will be hired on the spot. But those who succeed can get a promotion, earn much more than they did before and even get to work abroad.

If you think about it, there are advantages and disadvantages in just about any job or career that you decide to pursue. How you are able to deal with it is the challenge that you will have to face on your own. Those who can stand the pressure will probably stay for the long term while those who don’t will quit and shift into another career.

Doing some research and getting your feet wet will probably give you an idea of how things are like working in the finance industry. This is what on the job training or internships are for so you know what its like in the real world.

With this information, you can then see if the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for you to purse a career in financing.

Important Steps to Complete Before Applying for Nursing School

Important Steps to Complete Before Applying for Nursing School

According to the Bureau of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, the demand for skilled nurses is at an all-time high, and is only expected to go higher. Between now and 2016, the nursing occupation will generate nearly 600,000 new jobs, and hundreds of thousands of positions that already exist will need to be filled. The demand for registered nurses will be higher than the demand for any other occupation for the next decade. If you are considering a career in nursing, there has never been a better time to pursue this rewarding field.

There are three different paths that will lead to an RN, a certificate that declares you a Registered Nurse. Before you apply for nursing school, you should carefully consider the kind of nursing position you want to aim for. There are currently over 700 programs that offer bachelors’ degrees in nursing, a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing). There are about 850 programs at community colleges and other schools that offer an AN, an Associates Degree in Nursing, and about 70 programs that offer a diploma in nursing. Any of the three types of programs will qualify you for an entry level position in nursing. They differ largely in the amount of time each takes to complete and the types of jobs for which you will qualify. Here are just a few important considerations and steps to complete before you apply for a nursing school.

1. Explore the many career options available in nursing.

There are dozens of different career paths in nursing. While most people think of nurses in a hospital setting, it is far from the only type of nursing. Registered nurses work in doctors’ offices and for insurance companies. They may be involved in doing research studies to help discover cures and new treatments for diseases, or work in administration to help shape and set medical policy. Some nurses work in public agencies like health departments of the Centers for Disease Control. Others go on to further education so that they can become nurse practitioners, physician assistants or nurse midwives. Some nurses even combine their careers with a love of travel and adventure to become travel nurses, working on cruise ships, resorts or with travel tour groups.

Before you start considering nursing schools, think about the kind of career that you want, and then make your choice of nursing program based on your career decisions.

2. Get your high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma.

Finishing high school is important, especially if you are considering a nursing career that requires a higher degree. Consider weighting your classes toward studies that will help prepare you for the courses and prerequisites for nursing courses. High school biology and chemistry courses will lay a solid groundwork for courses that you will have to complete in order to get a degree or certificate in nursing.

3. Explore financial aid options.

There are many sources available to help you fund your education in nursing. The first place to start is the federal government, where you can apply for Pell Grants and other educational grants, as well as qualify for low interest student loans with deferred repayment plans. Be sure to check into any special loan programs offered for those pursuing a career in medicine or nursing. As the demand for nurses grows, there will be more incentives available for those who want to enter the field.

Besides FAFSA (the federal student financial aid programs), there are many other sources. If you are post high-school and working, check with your employer to find out if they offer tuition reimbursement for nursing programs. Check with local hospitals and your local and state government as well. In many cities where the nursing shortage is especially acute, there are grants and loans available to those who commit to “giving back” by working in local and state hospitals after receiving their certificate or degree.

4. Choose several nursing programs in which you are interested.

There are nearly 1,600 accredited nursing programs in the United States. Once you have decided on the type of program you want to attend, you can search for programs that fit your criteria. Among the factors you should consider are location, reputation, accreditation and availability of financial aid. Once you have narrowed your choices, contact the programs to find out about their requirements for admission so that you can make sure to fulfill them before applying.

Teaching Golf Will Turn Avocation Into A Career

Teaching Golf Will Turn Avocation Into A Career

If you wake up each day dreading the thought of going to work, but looking forward to those sunny Saturdays when you are able to play a round of golf, then maybe you should re-think your objectives. Looking into a career teaching golf will not only allow you to partake in your favorite pastime, but it will also allow you to draw a paycheck.

Teaching golf does not require you to be a former member of the PGA. All you need is a love for the game, dedication and a little education. Very few individuals are born with a natural talent for golfing. Most players take years and years to develop good skills to master the game. If you are interested in making a career out of teaching golf, the first step you should do is find an accredited golf academy you can afford. Golf academies can give you the basics to being a good instructor because there is a huge difference in being a good golfer and being a good teacher. It also takes longer to learn all there is to know about golf instruction, so be prepared to give at least a couple of years to the academy.

By attending an academy, those who want to teach golf will learn golf techniques from qualified instructors and former PGA members. Academies also offer the opportunity to learn manners needed to be a quality instructor. Patience is a virtue to have when playing golf. It is also something needed when you teach it to others. Interpersonal relationship courses are part of the curriculum students take while attending an academy. These skills are not only used on the course, but they can also be employed in other aspects of one’s life. Golfing is also about connecting the body with the mind, and students will acquire the knowledge to relay this trait to those they teach after completing their courses.

Teaching golf requires good interpersonal skills and patience because you deal with all age groups. It is easy to get frustrated when someone is unable to master a swing. Learning how to put aside personal frustrations and perform repetitive demonstrations to clients is part of being a good instructor. Going through an academy gives an individual the time needed to determine if teaching golf is something they are cut out to do.

Academies will also provide a person with solid management skills, the ability to communicate in a variety of settings and a good knowledge about the golfing industry. All of these combined can give a future instructor the confidence he or she needs to excel in a career teaching golf. By having greater knowledge of the game, a person can also improve their own golfing skills in addition to improving the skills of others wanting to learn the sport.

Instructors can choose how they want to teach the game to others. There is the option of working as a private teacher, or working at a larger resort or club. Teaching golf is also not limited to the course. By learning the fundamentals from an academy, instructors can venture out and expand their career by working in the design and development of golf equipment, consulting players on their mental attitude about the game or marketing golf to those interested in learning the sport. It is easy to see all the opportunities available in the golfing industry. Teaching golf will help continue its popularity as a sport and a profession. You will be giving others the knowledge needed for success while providing yourself a chance to succeed as a golfer.

Family: How to Balance Having a Family and a Career

Family: How to Balance Having a Family and a Career

Are you a career-oriented woman who also happens to be a parent? If you are, you may be dealing with a number of different issues. Many women, just like yourself, find it somewhat difficult to balance having a career and a family. While it is more than possible to do both, it can be overwhelming at times.

One of the many issues surrounding working mothers is that they do not know how to balance their time. Mothers who need to work or finish an upcoming project often do so, but they occasionally feel guilty about missing out on quality time with their children or their romantic partner. It can also be the other way around, as well. Many working mothers are afraid to, essentially, put their family first in certain situations, in fear of losing their jobs. If these are issues that you have dealt with or if they are issues that you are currently dealing with now, you will want to continue reading on.

One of the many ways that you can go about balancing a family and a career is by setting aside time for both your family and your important career. For instance, if at all possible, you will want to try and establish hours just for work or work related tasks. If you have to work overtime, it is advised that you do so, especially if your job may be at risk. That is often what is difficult for many mothers, when relying on their income, it can be fearful to put work second. With that in mind, it is important that you leave work at work. This gives you the opportunity to put your family first, especially when you are at home with them.

As with having set hours for work, it is also advised that you create a schedule for your family time as well. While your days don’t have to be planned out hour by hour, it is nice to at least develop a little schedule. This schedule could include days of the week when you may want to take a trip to the zoo with you children or days that you may want to spend visiting family. By having your plans already made and in place, you are more likely to follow through with them. Your family, including your children and your partner, will likely be pleased with this follow through.

Although raising a family is often associated with spending time with your children, that is not all that motherhood is about. For that reason, you likely have a full plate. That plate may include grocery shopping, the preparation of family meals, as well as house cleaning. To reduce the stress associated with many of these tasks, as well as give you more quality time to spend with you family, you may want to consider hiring assistance. Whether you choose to hire a professional housekeeper or a landscaper to mow your yard for you, this extra time may come in handy.
